Corrections

Unlike Republicans, when I realize a mistake, I will admit it.

First, on Terri Schiavo:

After listening to a press conference with an official from the Medical Examiner's office in Pinellas Park, Florida, I now know that Michael Schiavo had nothing to do with the decision to have his wife's body autopsied. It's required under Florida law. That said, I expect the results to still show that (a) he is innocent of the abuse accusations, and (b) she was too severly brain damaged to interact with others. Also, the office in Pinellas Park objects to the use of the term coroner. They want to be called Medical Examiners.

Second, on Joe Jackson:

It wasn't 2002. It was 2003. In the lead-up to Governor Musgrove's failed re-election bid, Joe communicated with me, then-College Democrats President Clay Green, and others in person, over the telephone, and via e-mail. One e-mail included a Microsoft Word document with suggestions on how to get young voters involved with the Musgrove effort.

As Joe is now officially anything but a Democrat, I expect him to continue his denials.

Comments:
Ahhh now you got it a little more on the money (although your premise is still flawed). Yes, I did contact you via email like you said. I was very interested in getting Musgrove reelected (so much for your bogus side-swapping in Rankin County claim). I wasn’t trying to influence the MSU Dems. Being a grad student I am not interested in stepping into a college group. As you said...my only contact with you folks was to help Musgrove's campaign. How you expanded that into trying to influence you folks I have no idea. As a side note...on other campaigns I have worked on (most recently as campaign manager for Justice George Carlson) I also contacted some area (in the district he ran in) and got them involved (so it was not like I was singling the MSU Dems out to try and take over and influence the group…although that year’s edition of the MSU Dems was in dire need of leadership) . I did not contact the MSU Dems then (during Carlson’s campaign) because we had Starkville and Oktibbeha pretty much locked up. How you came to the conclusion I was trying to be secretive and such is a mystery to me. If you had questions all you had to do was call or email me. As evidenced by my blog you can see that I am not hiding in a dark room. No I am out in the open. You were way to quick in the draw here and made yourself look foolish by your flat out wrong statements and back tracking and such. If you have any questions please by all means email me at msu8122@gmail.com (You can even post them on your blog if you would like). I may be more conservative than you (actually I am in line with most Mississippians, both Dems and Repubs) but does that give you any right to falsely attack me? And by the way, I don’t need you to tell me what my party classification is. I certainly hope that before you chase any more wild hairs that you at least contact me and try to be a little more ethical. And why do you think I would just deny things. If you knew me you would know if you ask me a direct and honest question I will respond in kind.

Failed to mention this in my last comment. Thank you for coming back and correcting your blog and not leaving false information up. Also, thank you for allowing me the space here to refute your claims and not just delete my comments.

On the Schiavo issue, while I would liked to have seen Terri's tube reinserted (guess that puts me on the side of "conservatives" such as Ralph Nader and Jesse Jackson huh Daniel, lol) I was really disgusted at hearing those on my side hurl such vile insults at Michael. Some claimed that he put her in that condition and was now trying to kill her to hide the evidence. How sick is that? This man suffered just like the other family. To have people say those things at this time in his life when he was in so much emotional turmoil is just beyond the limits of civility.

I guess Joe has join the ranks of Mack Rutledge, an honorary member of the MSU College Democrats.

I am still waiting for Melder's comments about Rutledge's suprise endorsemants.

where do you get joe jackson is/was/or is becoming an honorary member of the college democrats? he's not in that league. The honor has only been awarded twice, to both mayor rutledge and jean marzalek. jackson is not fit.

maybe its just a joke by ed.

Mr. Holmes,
Do hear my asking for such an honor? From what I have seen of the club it would be no honor at all.

Ed was making a comment on Mack...a Democrat...supporting Republicans. Guess the liberals in the Democratic party are pushing out the more moderates to conservatives? During the past 2 or 3 years there has been a serious drain in the Dem Party. I wonder why.

Having only just arrived from a weekend out of town, I am still piecing together all the information and my reaction on Mayor Rutledge's endoresments.

That said, the MSU College Democrats only extend Honorary Membership to those who have greatly benefited the party and/or the public through their service, and the award is usually gratned at the end of that service. Regardless of his most recent endorsements, Mack Rutledge has served the people of Starkville well. He's also the only mayor elected to a second term in over 40 years.
